Escape Stories
So recently, I got a new corn snake. She's a yearling, but she's only the size of a baby, just a bit longer.
Anyhow, I wasn't prepared for her to be so small, and didn't know how to handle her properly, and she got away from me.
Luckily, she made it easy for me and ran into the corner, where I was able to scoop her up and put her in her terrarium.
So I was just wondering if you guys had any interesting escape artist stories, or any stories where the little buggers might have gotten lost for a few days! Just some friendly discussion.

Re: Escape Stories
Years ago I had a ball python that escaped his enclosure and was gone for 3 months. My brother and I looked everywhere for him. One night we came in late after a night of partying and the snake was lying in the middle of the bathroom floor. To this day we have no idea where he could have gone.

I don't know why I found this so funny, ahaha.
Probably a good 7 or 8 years ago, we had some garter snakes in my brothers room, one of them managed to escape and about a month or so later while I was in my room changing, the snake slithered out from under my dresser.
More recently, within the last 6-8 months, I was doing some cage maintenance in my Rainbow Boa enclosure. I left the lid open while I was cleaning the water dish because it was daytime and they hadn't been out exploring, but once I came back in my room I found one of them sitting on some spare branches I had leaned up against the tank, lol. Haven't made that mistake since and haven't had an escape again.

Re: Escape Stories
Years ago i had a 4 ft Cottonmouth escape out of his cage... a buddy came over to feed him and forgot to put the lock back on the cage. I came home and went to use the restroom a week later and the snake was in my toilet looking up at me.
Imagine sitting down on that!

Re: Escape Stories
OK a snake in the toilet is to this day still a nightmare to me. If my Blaze shows up in my toilet I will freak out!

Re: Escape Stories
That's kind of interesting that your snake was gone for that long! They're amazing!
Luckily, my snake can't get out of the cage I have her in. Good thing, as I have a cat and a dog! It's chances in the house without supervision are slim!
And wow, about the cotton mouth. I woulda' said. "Nope!" And hired someone to go in and fetch it for me! x) I admire you for keeping such a dangerous creature, but that really isn't my cup of tea. Haha.
I'm glad my little escapee's freedom riot only lasted 2 minutes.

Re: Escape Stories
Bindi almost got completely lost, I saw her slithering out of her tank and onto a bundle of wires that to her, was a jungle gym lol. Got a few tags from that feisty one. My ex lost his BRB for 7 weeks, I found her in the basement. She was kept on the third floor! She tagged me a couple times too lol. And at the time he owned a dog and a cat as well.

Re: Escape Stories
The morning after I got Magenta, my dad woke me up at 6am yelling about how she got out and was hanging around on the book shelf. Turns out I didn't latch the top properly before I went to bed. Haha.

Re: Escape Stories
I had a baby lesser ball python in quarantine in my storage room as she had a few mites when I got her. She was in a Rubbermaid bin and managed to pop the lid. I went in to check on her and she was gone. This storage room was FULL of stuff. I eventually found her in a box of kitchen gadgets!
One of my carpets slipped out of a bin and I found it when it was making noise on top of some cages. Then when I was on holidays my coastal carpet managed to open its cage, turned the latch because the key was in it, and my sister heard some noise downstairs and came down to find it knocking things off shelves. Now I don't leave the keys in the latches!!
