Re: Morzan and Homura
Rainbow boa's are gorgeous! >w< I'm odd in the sense that I don't really fear snakes with bad attitudes, I just think it's cute. As long as they're little and don't do a lot of damage when they latch on, like one of the giants. XD Aww, poor lil crabby pants.
Also... I'mma be the one nerd in here who asks if you named Morzan after one of the 13th Forsworn from Eragon...? >3> Cuz that's what I was thinking the first I saw you mentioned it, ha.

Looking forward to seeing more of these guys. Congrats on the handsome fellas!

Believe it or not, she was nowhere near the brightest of the litter! Her brother, the one I was originally going to get was 2-3x brighter, but Dave ended up holding him back. Some of her other brothers and sisters were of similar brightness to him. I may see if he'll repeat the pairing, or have a similar pairing, and try to get one of those brighter babies in 2017-2018 or something.
If you've ever seen Dave's photos, they're very dark, and the flash usually looks very different from the non-flash photos, drowning out a lot of their color. Well, the brightest of the littermates didn't look any less bright orange in the flash photo than they did in the non-flash photos, so they had to have been super super super bright.
Hypos are starting to gain more and more color as breeders are selectively breeding for higher/deeper red het hypo parents.

I'll have to say you're not out of place here on that front! I do try not to antagonize my snakes, since it stresses them out, but at least I got finally got a snappy baby, even if he ends up being much calmer once he's settled in.
Yes, it's Morzan from Eragon. I named him before I got him, but he certainly living up to his name. haha

SPot on -- hypos are indeed getting brighter!
This is one of our holdbacks from last year (with flash):
I expect even more glowing results from this year’s pairing:

Not sure if it's the camera, but it's got a deeper orange color rather than a fluorescent highlighter orange, but I'm not against that color.
I'll keep you and Dave in consideration when I'm ready to get another rainbow. I've got to wait on the bigger snakes until I get my snow boa. haha Nothing bigger than a hoggie or garter until then.

Re: Morzan and Homura
Why thank you! :-) This year's hypo litter, if she takes, should be stunning. But I'm please to see hypo quality up across the board.

Re: Morzan and Homura
Well, Morzan is deep in blue, so he'll be skipping feeding day. Not only do I try not to feed my snakes in shed, he seems to be fairly shy, so I didn't want to stress him out trying to feed him in shed after recently arriving.
Homura also appears to be in shed, but I'm not sure exactly what hypos look like while in shed. She doesn't look highlighter orange and in one of the photos she looks slightly milky. I didn't notice until after I fed her, but she took it so I let her have it.

Re: Morzan and Homura
Well, it's been confirmed that Homura is in shed! I picked her up today and she's gone blue.

Thanks! It's gonna be a long wait, because about half of my snakes are in shed, leaving only a couple snakes I can handle. haha

Re: Morzan and Homura
Homura is very blue now! Morzan has cleared up, so hopefully he'll be shedding soon. So far, River and Draco have shed, leaving 4 others. At least.

Indeed she is!
Morzan shed today and got his first meal with me! He was kind of unsure at first, and took a lot of rubbing against his mouth for him to take it, after pulling back multiple times. I gave him the tiniest mouse I could find that wasn't a pinkie, just to be on the safe side. I managed to find a mouse in the hopper bag that was barely bigger than a pinkie. If he keeps this down I'll feed him a slightly bigger meal, but I'll still be sticking to fuzzies.
Post feed.

Thanks! If you've ever had babies with delicate stomachs, do they end up outgrowing it? I don't want to feed him huge meals, but I'm wondering if there will be a time I don't have to be so careful with his feedings, so if I slip up and accidentally give him a slightly too big meal he won't regurge.
