Re: Got mites? I do! HELP!
If it kills the eggs or kills the babies as they come out of the eggs, it still takes care of the eggs and rids every thing of mites. I think the only point to make here is that it works very well. Other methods may work to. Use what works for you.

provent a mite remains active for 30 days
the life cycle of mites is way less than that as you said mate
i like the fact you do NOT have to use repeat treatments as you do with other mite killing products
cheers shaun

Re: Got mites? I do! HELP!
If it works, that's cool, the only issue I have with PAM is that it makes your eyes water and forces you to leave the room due to the toxic vapours. Doesn't sound to safe for my reptiles if you ask me.
Use what works for you though....

Re: Got mites? I do! HELP!
I spray Provent-a-mite right in my snake room and it never effected me or my snakes. Although I have a ventilated snake room with a ventilation fan running. I guess if you have your snake room set up properly, you will not have these problems.

its designed for reptiles
it does say to keep your reptiles out the room for 2 hours after the treatment and to keep the windows open,to allow the fumes to disapate
i personally don't like the treatments you apply directly onto the snake or the use of olive oil like some folk suggest
as you said mate,do what works for you.as long as the snakes ok and the mites are dead
cheers shaun

Re: Got mites? I do! HELP!
I think he's asking why one of his snakes still has mites 5 days after all the other are gone.

i have never used nix treatment, but from what i hear the treatment sometimes has to be repeated
the beauty of provent a mite is that it remains active for 30 days.which is longer than the complete life cycle of mites
you may have to repeat the treatment mate
but don't quote me on that,i'm sure someone who uses nix treatment will tell us the what the problem is
cheers shaun

Re: Got mites? I do! HELP!
I have used the nix everyother day. And I was forgetting the N! I went with nix because it was something that I could get instantly as my wife is sick of all my pets and was threatening to give them all away.

Re: Got mites? I do! HELP!
If you're only using the treatment IN the animals enclosure, you might as well not even bother. Mites rae quick little buggers and will likely have colonies set up OUTSIDE your animals enclosures and your treatment is not affecting them at all, allowing them to live, breed and survive.
Also, if you are only treating PART of your collection, don't bother, they are EVERYWHERE. in the enclosure, on the walls, on the floor, behind the bins, on the ceiling, EVERYWHERE!!!
TREAT EVERYTHING.

Re: Got mites? I do! HELP!
I have treated snakes, temporary, enclosures, main enclosures, stands, lights, bowls, decorations, and threw away the old substrate. Any other ideas? Oh and I even treated my beardie.
