New rescue Painted Turtle :)

So about a week back I got a phone call that I needed to rescue a tiny baby painted turtle. It was found in the middle of a parking lot a few miles away from any real water source. Once I got to it I saw that it was VERY dry and its belly scutes where cracked in a few places. I think a bird must have picked it up and then dropped it at some point. It was just slightly larger than a quarter, so I took it home. I set it up in a spare 10 gallon tank with filter, water, basking and some decor. His scutes have started to recover and he looks 150% better now. I have treated him for parasites and spoken to a local vet that raises Turtles. I am very happy with this little guy and due to my son and husbands love of turtle s we will most likely keep this little fella.

That's way cute. I'm glad when these guys are in the hands of responsible people. There are too many free turtles on craigslist.

Re: New rescue Painted Turtle :)

I had one when I was a kid. Great pet but can get a bit stinky
I would pic snails off the bushed and he would eat them. I lived in a small town and he won 1st place in the pet competition at the fall fair. Murray was great.

Enjoy this little guy. He's a keeper!! You'll love the belly pattern as it develops.
