Re: HELP with Tokay
I am not sure what the temps and humidity are or what they are meant to be but that is what I would look at first.

Just read it is to do with there feet not being sticky enough during shed so they can't climb glass or other surfaces like that, Hope that' is the case.

Re: HELP with Tokay
He`s of the ground now, jumped about 6 inches from the floor, he was in the same position as in the photo when he jumped so this tell`s me he`s not weak... i checked the sole of his feet and they are black, he`s got burnt feet
I seen him last night sliding down the glass and thought it was strange that he would do this and just put it down to water that i had sprayed on the glass.
Now to find out what to do with his feet and check my stat and mat
BBS
Edit: do their feet turn black while in shed?
Appreciated guy`s

Re: HELP with Tokay
Wow thats sucks Any pics? I prefer to use low wattage bulbs with risen basking spots to get the temps I want when housing arboreal species

Also if a bulb starts to act up or goes bad, you can tell (unless its a ceramic) which is a big plus. Also no direct surface area contact.

Sorry he`s hanging upside down on a vine just now, checked the heat mat with my gun and that`s fine but i`v removed the heatmat and stat anyway.... i`v got bulbs and cage here to set-up. I`am fcuking raging at myself but at the same time wondering if he was like this yesterday when i bought him ?
Saying that i still don`t know if his feet go black when in shed?
Cheers mate

Re: HELP with Tokay
Maybe the substrate is getting his feet all dirty and they aren't sticking like they should? :P
Also, did use any chemicals to clean the glass before you got him? Take a picture of his feet if you can. How is his temperament? Is he sluggish or anything ?

Re: HELP with Tokay
i think their feet should be similar in color to their skin, but look sort of like the underside of a mushroom; darker valleys in between the pale, tightly packed toe pad ridges. If it was a burn i would expect all affected feet to be very painful and perhaps swollen.
My giant day gecko has trouble sticking to glass when he has been handled, i think the oils on our skin mess with his toe pads. He has never appeared to have trouble sticking to glass when in shed, and the only color change i notice is a duller more brown appearance overall.

Interesting about the color of skin Starbuck, i`v had a look through google images and there is some that are black but it don`t explain what happened today in the image above. Hope your right though. The swelling on the pads, tbh i wouldn't know if the were swollen or not, i seen his feet in the position in the above photo.
I`v not handled him yet and the guy in the shop used a plastic box to take it out of the Viv, said it bit him before so god know when the last he`s had contact with skin.
As you can see he`s nice and bright looks and moves ok but why was he like all slumped up today.... ? this is the bit that get me
That`s it dark no so maybe i`ll catch him on the glass to see if he can hold on.
Cheers guy`s appreciated

Re: HELP with Tokay
About him being in the ground I wouldn't worry at all. Just looks like he was in a deep slumber.
About the burnt feet I'm not sure , could you get pics of them?
