Just picked up these.

Honduran curly hair tarantula.

He is quite a bit bigger than my female but sometime in the future maybe.

While I was in the mood I thought I would try.

An adult Salmon pink bird eater as I have to slings so the knowledge I gain with an adult will help when the slings mature.

It is bigger than my hand

I am not sure on sex of this one I think male but I will find out after the molt

I don't think I will be handling the bird eater I was told he will bite and when I took the pics he was flicking hairs like mad so I held my breath lol

While I was there the lady let me hold her 10 year old albino burm 14' so I have had a good day so far

Thanks for looking.

Re: Just picked up these.

Not the bird eater but the curly yeah why not, since I have started with T's I am not so bothered about house spiders they used to creep me out big time but not now lol.

T's have got my fear of spiders well in control now I can pick them up and put them back outside were they belong instead of being squished lol.

Re: Just picked up these.

How certain are you that the Honduran is male? If it actually is a male, and if it is considerably bigger than your female (and again a question of how certain are you on that one's sex?), then there is a good chance the male will be dead before "she" reaches sexual maturity.

The urticulating hairs on Lasiodora parahybana are said to be among the worst as far as mammals are involved. I'd advise against doing any unavoidable handling.

Chromatopelma (green bottle blue or blue bottle green) are quite easy husbandry-wise -- but again, not one to handle. (In this case, it is not so much a concern as to being bitten or getting haired, but rather because they are speedy devils. So unless you relish the idea of chasing one all over your domicile, they are best treated as look but don't touch.)

Re: Just picked up these.

I don't know for sure about sex but when they molt it will give me a better chance.
If I can't tell then maybe you could help if I take some good enough pics?

I don't intend on handling any of them to be fare I was simply saying I would handle the curly.

As for the female being smaller I could have been more accurate there is about an inch difference so not that much but still I noticed the difference.

Dude, I'm jealous of your adult Salmon Pink. Mine's about 3.5-4" DLS but (s)he'll probably molt again within the next several months. Awesome spiders.

I would estimate mine to be about 6" at least.
