Gtp enclosure

so i am looking to buy a gtp in the next year or so and i want to be fully prepared before i even get one picked out. i have done all my research and i know the best size enclosure for an adult it a 2'x2'x2'. i recently remodeld an old retail showcase into two tanks one for my beardie and the other for my carpet. i have left over wood and materials and i was wondering if i could use wood if it was sealed? i sealed it for my carpet and it has worked great since about december so far.
i really cant afford to spend more than $100-$150 for a pvc or acrylic enclosure so thats pretty much out, although i do love the look of them.
my last question is if i was to get a neo or juvi would they be ok in a 12x12x18" exo terra?
thanks for all the help, Logan

Re: Gtp enclosure

So long as you can maintain proper husbandry (humidity especially) the neonate will be fine in a smaller tank. You could also use a sterilite tote with some perches and holes drilled

Re: Gtp enclosure

I wouldnt say the"best" size is 2x2x2, they can live in one that size but personal,y i think bigger is better.

My GTP is in a 4x2x2 foot viv and uses every inch of it.

Re: Gtp enclosure

I agree with Lankyrob, 2x2x2 is not an ideal size in my opinion, my yearling use a similar size and I feel he doesn't have enough room to fool around. They are very active after light out and do need a bigger space to wonder around.

Re: Gtp enclosure

Wood will hold your humidity, just make sure to seal it thoroughly on every side. (Even the exterior sides). Do not use anything pressure treated.

Re: Gtp enclosure

thanks for the replys i will be looking into building a wooden one that is about a 4x2x2 or possibly saving up and buying a pvc/acrylic. or who knows i may find some kind of fairly cheap used tv stand to make into an enclosure about that size.
thanks Logan
