Mine has done that before, I have a picture around here somewhere.. Give them a proper cage and they will do a lot more than people think.

Wow, that's really cool. I've never seen my Burmese come up off the ground, but he's massive. He's 14 feet and well over 100lbs, so I don't think I can find a perch solid enough to support him if he tried to coil like that.

My young female boa was never on the ground she even ate on her perch I think if you offer such possibility's they will eventually optimise.
