Texas bull snake

Hey everyone, I'm picking up a Texas bull snake for $30.00, on friday. it looks like a 2012 in the photos.
It's on pinky rats F/T
I've done some reading but anything else I should know from People who have owned or do own them.

Since nobody else answered, and I know there are people with bull snakes in this forum: I've only had mine for a couple of months and it is a sub-adult, about 3 feet in length. It's a snake that is very easy to take care of, and the setup largely mimics what I have for my CA king.

The very strong feeding response proved to be true, and the snake exhibits very distinct difference in behavior when in feeding mode. Otherwise it is about as calm as the calmest of my corns.

It is still too young to see if it develops a defensive display that some of them will, so no hissing as of right now.

I've had plenty of gopher snakes (western version of bull snakes). Many have been very nice, non-agressive, curious, active animals. Some have been really grumpy with lots of attitude with hissing and tail rattling. They're very easy to maintain.

Yup my gopher goes either way. She will hiss and shake her tail but reach in and grab her and it all goes away. Eating machines. Huge strikes. Pits are awesome to keep. Enjoy!!!

I have a bullsnake and her and I do NOT get a long. She has a hissy pissy attitude but she eats well and readily. and is pretty active. Mine just happens to hate me.

The only issue I had with her is shedding. The first couple sheds with me I had to help. I have no idea why the humidity was fine. I think the problem was that i didn't give her something textured to rub on.

Hissy babies but with gentle handling become mellow adults. They are hissy spitty when they are little because of being at bottom of food chain.

I love the lip.

Mine didn't start the theatrics until she was at least a year old. First time she did it my son went running

Mine has in the past its not pleasant but not that bad. They are quick though so careful when you handle them. My bull is a lot faster than my boa and bp

Ah yes, most Colubrids are awfully fast. Quite a number of boas have tried to get me, but did not succeed. (I wonder how much posturing was involved.) Most of my bites were from king snakes.

That being said: My bull snake is very calm, and doesn't move quickly unless it is feeding time.

Mine have never musked me but this one did grab my hand once when I was reaching in to transfer her to her feeding container. She tried to pull my hand under her hide to eat it! Otherwise she is a big mellow girl.

I now know to watch her expression. When she is hungry she has this sizing me up look!
