Hearing different things - would like record set straight

On most care sheets that I read for corn snakes they suggest a 20G long tank, but I've also heard that corn snakes are climbers and that its good to have a tall terrarium.

Would an 18"L x 18"W x 24"H be suitable for a corn snake?

What other tanks should I look in to?

Climbing is not needed. I'm sure they will climb every now and then if offered but its not a must.

Personally i put my corns straight into an adult sized viv, 3ft x 2ft x 2ft, as hatchlings. I ensure i provide LOTS of cover and hiding places so they can move around and thermoregulate without being exposed but had no issues at all.
