New to the forum
Hi! My name is Melissa and not only am I new to the forum, but I am new to reptiles as pets! I am hoping to be able to get a blue tongue skink soon, and will be asking a LOT of questions. And maybe after I get my first bluey I can get my first snake! Boyfriend isn't a huge fan of reptiles but maybe I can change his mind!
Thanks for reading!

Re: New to the forum
My husband wasn't a huge fan either but he let me get a snake that was 7 years ago and now we have 2 snakes, 2 turtles, and a bearded dragon! You can change his mind

Re: New to the forum
Welcome, Melissa! I know so many people who started out "not a fan" of or even strongly averse to snakes but who are now quite comfortable with them or even owners who love them.
One thing you might try is putting your skink's enclosure where you and your BF can see it a lot, someplace you might sit & talk or read or whatever. That way he'll get comfortable with it being in the same room, and once in awhile (not ALL the time or he'll start to feel pressured about it) you can point out some interesting behavior. Slowly progress to more hands-on experiences if possible (I'm not a blue-tongued skink owner, so I don't know whether they are handleable) but don't force anything. Forcing someone who isn't comfortable does NOT help them become comfortable; it just makes them even more uncomfortable!
Who knows, eventually he might even enjoy a lizard or other herp of his own!
Good luck with helping him become comfortable!
