Hedgehog in Same room.
So, my gf and I have a spare bedroom in my apartment where I keep my BP. Well her birthday is coming up, so I am getting her a hedgehog. My question is, can they be housed in the same room? Obviously they wont be out together, and never handled right after one another.

Re: Hedgehog in Same room.
I just love guinea pits, Rob.
I don't see a problem having it in the same room. Many people keep feeder mice/rats in the same room as their snakes and it doesn't bother them, don't see why a hedgehog would.

Re: Hedgehog in Same room.
Weird that people keep their snakes with rodents with no reaction, my ATB would always start to freak out when he was around the smell of them.

Re: Hedgehog in Same room.
I keep snakes rabbits, rats and guinea pigs in same room. I used to have a hedgehog in same room as my bp. It was fine. But hedgehogs really stink. I had to clean him out every 3days as his wee smelt like ammonia. And unless you handle them often they go very huffy

I would guess that probably would stop happening if you had the rodents in there all the time.

Re: Hedgehog in Same room.
Same as stated above.. Won't be an issue but be ready to clean the hedgehogs cage all the time. They really need daily cleaning to contain the smell.

I believe this would be true, but until they got use to it there's know i want to open my Anaconda or a couple of my Carpet cage. They smell food they will hit anything putting off a heat signature.

Re: Hedgehog in Same room.
Dont knw if this makes a difference but my guinea pigs were in the room before i got the snakes so i guess the smell mustjust be what they consider to be "normal" for their environment.
They certainly know when i start defrosting their food tho a d thats in a room on the far side of the house!
