Newbie here :)
Hi, my name is Chris  I've always been fascinated with snakes and was kind of looking to get one... Which is kind of why I came here  I was hoping to narrow down my search and get one I love. See the thing is I generally prefer venomous snakes and anacondas... Neither of which are practical for a first time snake owner. But they're sooo beautiful... My favorites are the asian pit viper, the saw scaled viper and the eyelash pit viper. Basically strong defined heads, and strong slender bodies... and bright colors or unique features like the saw scaled. Anyway, I was hoping to find something a little more manageable. Probably a rarer type of the more common pet snakes as some of those can look pretty amazing like an albino ball python (except i would prefer something more active...). Or something I haven't heard of =D
Any ideas let me know I'm in no rush to just get one. I wanna take my time and find something I really like thats legal and can manage.

Wow--- some well defined ideas there, it sounds like you have done your research! I have to agree though that those are likely not the best starter snakes in the world though...

Personally, I'm biased toward the albino ball pythons
(this one is mine)
Other snakes for you to consider...
corn snakes come in all sorts of colors, and are a GREAT beginner snake option
another great option are California King Snakes. They come in lots of pattern varieties too
Rosy boas are also hardy and come in a few colors too
Getting your first snake is really exciting. Good luck choosing!!

You need a carpet. Everything you mentioned describes carpets.
Even normals look awesome.

I nominate Amazon tree boas or emerald tree boas
Both are bright and beautiful and can be great practice for arboreal vipers. Not ideally beginner snakes, more for display than handling but crazy fun to work with

Thanks for the welcoming. Some awesome snakes posted too! Wow. The rainbow boa is stunning. The tree boas and carpet pythons are awesome! No wonder people end up having so many snakes. Just amazing. I've never looked into boas much but I've overlooked an incredibly beautiful bunch of snakes! Wow!
