Re: The tegus and iguanas
I'm jealous of the Fijis. Lovely tegus, too. I'd have to say they are probably my second passion, after monitors.

I personally prefer the tegus over the monitors, my big male argentine has the best character, great lizards.

Re: The tegus and iguanas
Funny story, my Colombians are actually more friendly than my Argentine. Then again, I put a lot more work into them than I did Iris.

Ah most the columbians i've kept have been pretty defensive, manageable though lol.
My male argentine used to sleep like this all the time
did is since he was a baby, but used to scare me everytime i went into the rep room and he was like that lol. He doesn't do it much now he has his girlfriend, she walks over him and he freaks out lol.

Re: The tegus and iguanas
My friend's red does that! I've never seen anything like it until he showed me pictures. I was so confused.

I wish my tegus were as great as everyone else's... They have been the most unrewarding animals I've ever kept.

It was scary the first time, quickly opening the viv and making sure he was still alive lol, luckily now when i see it i don't worry about it.

Ah that is a shame, mine are great, and are one of my favorite species.

Re: The tegus and iguanas
I believe it! That would freak me out. Luckily none of mine do that, or even if they did, they sleep down in burrows so I wouldn't see it.

I want them to be one of my favourite species but mine have been very difficult (not eating, very unfriendly)

Mine tends to pass out where he falls, he is quite a lazy chap, unless he is mating or food is about, then it is a whole other ball game lol.

Ah can be hard work when they aren't friendly, it is strange for them not to be eating though, mine go through winter brumation and stop feeding as much over winter, but apart from that they are food mad, and eat pretty much anything i offer them.

Re: The tegus and iguanas
I'm hoping his lack of appetite is due to the time of year. If he doesn't pick up in the spring/summer, I'll be contacting the breeder because I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.
