Found a snake in my bathroom
Hi! I found this snake in my bathroom. I was wondering what kind of snake it is and how I could take care of it?
I live in Berlin, Germany. Is it a snake that lives in the wild here?
I hope the pictures are clear enough to see what kind of snake it is.

Re: Found a snake in my bathroom
It's a corn snake. I have no idea if they live in Germany but my guess it's an escaped pet.

It is an escaped pet, Corn snakes are a North American species.

Yep. Native to North America. Please don't release it into the wild.

On the topic of not releasing it into the wild, that one looks rather young. They are easy to care for, cheap to keep, tolerate handling well, and stay relatively small. It would be really easy for you to keep it as a pet, and one could always use more snakes in their life!

Re: Found a snake in my bathroom
Do you live in an apartment /multi-family building? If so I would ask around and see if anyone in the building has recently lost a snake. I say that because he looks to be in pretty good shape so he probably hasn't been on the loose for very long. If you recently moved in he might belong to the previous tenant.

Re: Found a snake in my bathroom
Yeah, I'd much rather find that in my bathroom than a 5 inch camel spider at my bare feet. I was taking "a midnight leak" one night in bare feet and heard a clicking sound. (it was arachnid feet walking on the tile) I looked down and there was huge camel spider staring at me. Scared the crap out of me! Those things give me the willies bigtime even though they aren't venomous.
