I'm taking a business trip to Santa Fe in mid-April, and I plan to spend my after hours herping. Does anyone know any good spots in the area?

Re: New Mexico

There are a lot of great hikes just at the top of Old Canyon Road, where I have seen some lizards scurrying about. Those trails are pretty popular though, so it depends on which ones you take and what the weather is like. Mid-April can be touch and go for warmth.

Are you renting a car? There are some better places just outside of town that might be better. Ive been up around Los Alamos and had better luck.

Re: New Mexico

I'm actually planning to drive the whole way so I can do some hunting around Moab and SE Utah on my way down. I figure I can range an hour or so from Santa Fe after meetings.

Ah nice, ok then that opens things up considerably. My inlaws live in Santa Fe and he is an avid hiker. I go out a couple times a year, but Ill ask him for recommendations as he knows better than I obviously.
