Newbie :D
Hello I'm new to the sSnakeSs forum, I've been looking for a reptile forum that was fairly active and provided a lot of interaction among its members so I was really impressed when I found this one and decided to join .
A little about me, I'm a pre med student living in Northern California; I've always loved animals and have a few furry friends as well as my 8 year old SHTCT leopard gecko Pyra. I've always been fascinated with reptiles in particular just because of their beauty and the type of charm that they give. I think a lot of people on here would agree that even though a reptile can't exactly nuzzle or show affection like a cat or dog can it doesn't mean that they don't show it in their own way and like all creatures each one is genuinely special.
I want to try to be more interactive in the reptile community since I do want to work on a couple of projects myself. I'm in the process of moving so I know that once everything's settled I'm going to be working on a new (and much needed) setup for my gecko and a few other things that I'm considering as well. I know I have a lot to learn and I do want to reach out to others that are more knowledgeable than me when I am considering new things or curious about another species that may interest me, etc.
I can talk for days about reptiles so if anyone has any questions regarding any particular kinds I'm interested in and what not I'd be happy to chat

Re: Newbie :D
Thanks for the welcome guys . Yes I too love pics and will be sure to post some of my little baby ASAP. My phone got stolen and I haven't got access to a decent camera with everything shuffled around, but I look forward to having you guys take a look .
I LOVE leos, they are so friendly and happy looking ^^. I had two others previously, a hi yellow female (Draca) and a leucistic female (Shasta), so I've really only had first hand ownership experience with them.
I've taken a liking and consideration to other species of gecko (day geckos, cresties, gargoyles, and dune are some that seem really awesome to me though I have to do a bunch more research before realistically considering them). I've also thought about working on a set up for dart frogs, I've always loved their colors and visiting different reptile stores they look like very animated little frogs. One thing at a time though, I really want my little leo to be happy before I do anything else.

I've fallen in love with leos too. I wasn't really interested in them until I got my first one, and now I'm obsessed. This is a great forum, but it's not very gecko-oriented, so if you have any issues/questions/concerns, you're welcome to go to GeckoForums.net. It's a good site for gecko resources (it's 90% leos) - though this site has more diverse information on other things. Geckos are where it's at though.

Re: Newbie :D
Yeah I did notice that, snakes especially seem to be very popular which may prove handy since my boyfriend and I both love snakes and want to look into that. My boyfriend had a garter snake when he was younger and we ran into one at a random pet store we came across (moments of nostalgia ensued haha).
Thanks Maggot for the additional resource, I'm going to check it out shortly

It's not as active as here though. There was a recent change in management, and for some reason, it seems to have coincided with a lot of people leaving. Not sure why, but it's much quieter than it was when I joined just a few months ago.
A few people here have introduced me to garters as pets, and I'm pretty impressed with them now. They sound like really cool snakes to own.

Re: Newbie :D
"really cool" is an understatement.
Hi, Wayne. Finally made it over here. I didn't come here earlier because I was already a member of 3 different pet/reptile forums and I figured that was enough. But the other one you moderate is so quiet and another forum I use has died completely so here I am.
