They really are quite easy to keep if you have the right know-how like everything else.
Diet: They are carnivores. My pair are voracious eaters They eat Crickets, meal worms, horned worms, super worms, the odd pinky or hopper and when my female is gravid I also offer repashy gecko meal with the added calcium.
Humidity: my pair live in a partially bioactive environment. since their substrate is a combination of black earth and play sand with some plant matter the humidity does not drop below 65% every week I dump a bunch of water on part of the tank which the lizards run to and till into the remaining soil. they also have a large bowl of water.
Temperatures: I use 2 bulbs. a UVB light (I think its a 5.0) and a mercury vapor bulb which puts my basking area at 115F, a hot end between 78-85 and a hot end in the mid 90s.
They really should be in a 6x2 and I am working on that but they seem to do alright in the 4x2. since its a 4x2x2 I have it built up so there is a lot of climbing/ hiding places. I offer 2 basking spots and plenty of hides that my female can get to but my male cannot (he is much larger than she is)
Though females tend to be duller mine is a beauty. When we first saw her everyone was convinced she was a male. She is nearly as bright as him. I would love to finally hatch some offspring. The last time she dropped a clutch I was in the hospital having my son.
