Re: thermostat probe

Here is my set up.. top photo.. RHP and in the bottom pic you can see the probe wire entering through a small vent. These are 2 different vivs I have built but I do them all basically the same.

Re: thermostat probe

do you have the probe under the bedding? that is what i am concerned about. i dont know if i should super glue it sticking up like a flag pole or lay it on top of the bedding or how i should do it. i will be using about 2 inches of eco earth/repti bark for the substrate.

Re: thermostat probe

I have the probe placed right under the edge of the hide. I used caulking to hook the cord about 2" away from the probe end to the bottom of the viv. This way the probe can move no more than 2".

Re: thermostat probe

you may have to play around with the probe a couple of times nick to get accurate readings ,once set up and running check with a temp gun and compare readings to your stats ok , i have 2 probes okay ,1 for heat mat which is taped directly to the heat mat ,the second 1 bieng for rhp ok ,that 1 is located on top of his hide below the rhp approx 10-11 " ,both are run by rheostats with digital readings .......good luck mate !

Re: thermostat probe

I have alarms on my thermostats that go off if it gets too hot or too cold and my snakes sit on them all the time setting it off, so now i have it held down between two pieces of heavy ceramic/slate decor that he can't move or fit in between. I have mine clear of bedding because i use a heat mat at the mo and my guy digs down to the lino covering it. no matter where i would put the probe.
