Substrate question

Hey guys I was just wondering if there would be a problem if I used cypress mulch from the home depot? I would bake it and everything but I was just wondering because cypress at my local shops and reptishows cost a pretty penny . Please let me know how you feel about this.
Thanks

Re: Substrate question

That should be fine. When I was using it, I bought it at Lowes. Super cheap for the amount u get.

Re: Substrate question

If you can confirm it's 100% cypress sure. If not. Not!
It's very common to mix in a bit of other woods which may include cedar or pine and these are both toxic to your snake.
So be sure to know for sure first but if it is 100% pure cypress then sure.

Re: Substrate question

Careful with the stuff home depot sells. I used to work there and many many times the cypress was mixed with not only some other filler woods but chemicals to help the color and overall look of the stuff.
