Quick Hide Question

I just bought my 1yr4mo old Male Pastel (Goldie) a new Hide one of those XXL cave hides from PetSmart. He currently is using an XL Cave Hide on the Hot end and a Medium Log Hide on the cool in...He seems to love his Cave hide more then the less secure log hide that he seems too big for hence be buying him a new Larger cave. For those bring up heat questions when i move the cave hide to the cool side ..it remains his primary residence...so it's definitely either comfort or security..no temp.

I plan on keeping his XL Cave and replacing the log hide with the XXL Cave that i bought that is a little more wider for him....my question is...Which would you suggest be on the Hot Side...The more roomier XXL cave...or the tighter fitting XL cave that he is very snug in now?

My fear is if he likes the roomier cave on the hot side he wont therm o-regulate properly choosing to make the roomier space his home vs the snugger fitting Cave that he seems to be content with (but seems too small for me as he moving it all over)

Re: Quick Hide Question

For all of my snakes that have 2 hides I use 2 identical hides and try to have them just big enough for the snake to fit snuggly. They should be able to touch 3 sides. To me it sounds like your hides are way to big.
