Need help with BP again
Hey guys. So, here's the deal. Usually, when i get home from work at night, Jake is all over the place in his tank. Climbing, moving around, and exploring. He's been eating very well, and his temps and humidity are fine, but tonight he has barely moved. He's never snapped at me before, but tonight when i went to change out his water, he kind of half-*** snapped. Not really to hurt me, but kind of a " leave me alone" type deal. What could have caused his sudden gloomy and moody behavior?

If hes older than 18 months, could be hormonal for breeding. If not, he may have pink belly, aka on the edge of shedding.

Think ur right. Noticed some dullness in his color, and when he let me, i was gently rubbing him with damp fingertips. Seemed to enjoy that.

Re: Need help with BP again
Some snakes get enclosure defensive at night. I wouldn't dare stick my hand in my BP's tank after dusk because I will probably walk away with a bite. He goes into feed mode at that time
Some also get defensive near a shed I would just give him some space. As long as he eats, poops, and sheds fine I wouldn't worry. Check your humidity and temps just in case

Never heard of horomones making males snappy. Especially ball pythons.
Shedding is the likely culprit.

Wrong. I highly doubted like being rubbed. Snakes don't care for our touch, damp or not.
Up the humidity. He'll probably shed soon.

Re: Need help with BP again
If he's about to shed, that might be the reason for the behavior. Leave him alone, raise the humidity, and wait it out.
