Corn Snake Help

I came across a corn snake on kijiji that doesn't look to be in that great of shape. I do know shes 2 years old and eating live. I guess my question would be is how hard would it be to treat the bites (if thats what they are) on it and to help it make a full recovery.

If they are just bite wounds they should heal fairly well with no help at all outside just providing a clean proper set up. If the snake has other issues then it could be a lot of work. Corn snakes are pretty hardy though.

Please do not pay for this snake though. If they are offering it for free fine but if they want to make money off an abused animal don't support that.

I refuse to pay for an abused animal, it just says that its ok for them to turn around and do it again. They want 50 for everything so I think I'm just going to ask if I can take the snake and they can sell the tank for the price they want. I do want to take it for a vet check to make sure there is no under lying issues on top of the bites. It has quite a few and are missing several scales in spots.

It looks like it's being kept on pine or cedar. I guarantee it has a lot more problems than just bites. If that is cedar then that snake is probably not gonna make it.

I think I am gonna pass on the snake. They have it on aspen but I guess the snake got out and just happened to make its way to the hamster cage which is where she got the bites. While she was telling me this on the phone she was laughing. I was not impressed with the fact she thought a animal getting injured was funny.

I guess I can see your point, but that's not really the snake's fault. I dunno. I just couldn't let the animal suffer with them because I don't like their behaviour. I'd take it if it were near me.

I would love to take it and add it to my collection, however, I don't have the money to travel down to pick it up and I don't feel comfortable with paying money for a snake that has been neglected. I wish I could take the snake. The boyfriend said they were doing saline baths as well as soaking it in betadine. I just wonder why they are selling off their whole collection of snakes.

I drove 2 hours and spent $50 on a neglected gecko and its setup, but I realise most people won't do that. Still, I'm glad I've got her and can give her a better home than that jackass.

Have you suggested a reptile rescue to them? You can probably find one in your area, and hopefully they'd be willing to give it up.

Hopefully they've realised they're idiots and will never own another snake again (yeah right).

The people are about 5 or so hours away and I don't drive. My brother called her last night and was going to get it however according to her boyfriend they are going to keep the tanks now and just sell the snakes, which poses a problem for me and him since I only have 2 tanks currently filled with my boa's and he has his tank filled with one rescued corn snake already. I have emailed them information on the reptile rescues located in Nova Scotia so hopefully they will send the 4 snakes they are selling there.
I think my boyfriend would kick my but if I brought home anymore snakes even if they are neglected, he has this thing where he thinks 2 is enough (as if).

Haha I wish it was that easy. I figured if I can take care of 5,000,000 fish then I can take care of a few snakes, Salmon are a lot more work than snakes.

I think I can up it to 3 for Christmas and maybe even more if I use them as a "gift" for him. As long as I can get my green tree python then I'm happy.
