Shedding issue

A friend of mine gave me his normal BP. The BP was not well taken care of by the looks of the water dish and shape of the enclosure. He is shedding but he seems to have two shedding happening at the same time. I haven't seen this before. I'm worried about the eye cap. One of the eyes don't look to good. Has anyone seen this before and can anyone help out with resolving this problem?

I have set up the enclosure to maintain a humidity of 60-70% and the temp. to between 70-84 depending on time of day.

Re: Shedding issue

Try soaking him in some warm water. Not too hot! but if you have a rubermaid tub with lid you can fill it with enough water it lets the snake soak good but have enough room they can stick their heads out to get air. The humidity might be enough to loosen the skin. You could also get some shedease at the local pet store. It helps some shed come off.

Re: Shedding issue

You really want to up your temperatures, 75f should be a minimum for the cool end and the hot end needs to be up to 90f. During the shed it would be good to get the humidity up over 80% also

Re: Shedding issue

As mentioned its way too cold, you never want it below 80F & are looking for a hotspot of 90-95F.
A humid hide in its enclosure as well as some baths/soaks will definitely help.
I have seen neglected snakes with multiple layers of shed in the past yep.
Proper husbandry will solve the issues in the long run, Mark

Re: Shedding issue

THX folks!
Will be working on trying to produce some IJs (Granites), Diamonds & Womas for the Pythons here right away, the BHs are being sold to help pay for a new car for the GF DOH! LOL
As for thread Jacking heck I'm the master, like do we really want to talk abvout BPs!?! LOL

To the OP once all husbandry is correct you will find issues corect themselves if they had not been too far gone already.
Getting those temps up ASAP is key though as you do not wnat to deal with an RI in addition to the shedding issues, Cheers Mark

P.S. been lurking a bit lately, now that its so pleasant here (winter) I'll try to be more active again!

Re: Shedding issue

Thank you for all the information. I have made the changes to my enclosure and have provided soaking baths to help with the shedding. Showing good results.
