got a great weekend planned....

I'm going up to Bob Cayeon & Bancroft area this weekend. I'm so looking forward to it! Aside from just getting outta town, I'm hoping to find some herps to photograph. Now for those of you who have seen some of my pics.(ugh!)keep your fingers crossed....I'm hoping the cam. I have will do better outdoors without a flash so I can share my finds with you!
If anyone has been up in that area I'd like to hear about your finds as well.

Bobcaygeon "hot spots"

Hi Yvonne, I realize this is a little late, however, I would like to offer you some info re: herp hot spots in the Bobcaygeon area for future ref. I used to have a cottage there for uh, geez, it must of been almost 20 yrs. or so. {Boy I'm gettin old, no comment from you Matty!!!} Anyway, there is an "old" dam that separates Pigeon Lake from Sturgeon Lake and is located off Hwy 36 on a small road called "Snake Point Rd." {I'm not makin' that up} It {the road}runs east of Hwy 36, south of the big bridge. It's a rather windy narrow road and it passes a small park on the right side. Any local should be able to direct you. This is THE spot for those nasty Northern water devils uh, snakes and I have located many a big snapper etc. there. I've also found Milks, Garters, DeKay's uh, lotsa amphibs etc. The "best" times are usually early spring when all the post brumation "action" is taking place. Real good fishin' too. Check the signs as I think it's also a fish sanctuary untill mid to late May. Anyway, hope this helps for your next trip to 'Caygeon. P.S. There is a little bakery on the street that leads into town {running west off Hwy 36} I'll cover your gas if you bring me 3-4, or maybe 6-7 of their Chelsea{?} buns back!!!!! Don't leave without spoilin' yourself to one, trust me.

Good Luck Chris @C.H.S.!

Thanks Chris! My hubby's family lives there so he's quite familiar with all the places you mentioned. I think I saw some drool on his lip when I told him about the Chelsea buns. We drove past Snake Point Rd. but were on our way to a family get together and couldn't stop (believe me lights went off when I saw the name of that road!lol!). I'll definately check it out next time. We didn't spend much time in Bob Caygeon, we arrived late and only had time to visit with the family. From there we headed to Maynooth. There was still a bit of snow on the ground so I figured a little to early to spot any signs of life. We'll see how it is in a few weeks.
I'll make sure to stock up on Chelsea buns next time i go! btw...Do you remember the Dairy?
Small = 3 scoops!:flick:

Ahh, the Dairy.

Chocolate milk that you need a spoon to "drink". 3- scoop "small" cones. Many an early eve was spent walking up to the dairy from our cottage to enjoy "The Dairy". {sob} Boy I miss them days.
