Small specks...

My kingsnake has extremely small, near microscopic black specks that do
not move and come right off when I brush them with my finger. My
substrate is aspen. Is this a common seen thing or what? I think the
spots are coming from the aspen, seeing as some aspen comes with a few black spots (look below) and I am 99.9% positive it is not
mites because they do not move. Thanks in advance guys.
