Where can I find cheap tanks??
I'm looking to get a bigger enclosure for my boa. Right now he is in about a 45gallon breeder tank I believe. He's getting a little big for it. Hes about 4 ft or so. I'm looking for a 75-100 gallon bowfront aquarium, but everywhere I look they are 400$+ and I cann't afford that . I've looked on craigslist and there are none. The pet stores are NOT cheap and ebay is no better. Does anyone know where I could go to find a tank like this used for cheap??
Thanks!

Bow fronts usually are not the ideal home for boas or any snakes really. However if you're dead set on one have you tried kijiji?
Or Craig's list?

Re: Where can I find cheap tanks??
Dont know what prices are like where you are but have yu looked at vivariums rather than fish tanks? They are much easier to get the husbandry correct in than a tank

Re: Where can I find cheap tanks??
I want a bowfront, because it has more depth than other aquriums. It's hard to decorate normal aquriums, because they are long, but don't have enough width. I can't find any reptile enclosures big enough for a boa. Besides all that I like the look. I've looked on craigslist, but not kijiji.

Re: Where can I find cheap tanks??
Somewhere between 3 and 4 feet. More towards 3 though.

Re: Where can I find cheap tanks??
I'm sure you can find a decent 4x2 which should be big enough for a male

Re: Where can I find cheap tanks??
Rigth now I believe he is in a 36"X12"X18" and hes already a little big for it 4'X2' isn't much better. I'd honestly have a 75 or 100 gallon bowfront.

If the height is the same, that's twice the size of what he's in now. I'd call that more than "not much better."

Re: Where can I find cheap tanks??
sorry its a 36"X18"X12" and a 4'X2' isn't that much bigger than a 3'X1.5'.. I want something that when he is fully grown he will still have some room left. Also, I like a lot of decorations and they take up some space. I want a big tank i can fill with fake plants and vines to make a big natural looking tank.

You said he's in a 45 gallon. 4'x2'x18" is almost 90 gallons.
"You provided measurements in inches:
Width: 48" (121.92cm)
Height: 18" (45.72cm)
Depth: 24" (60.96cm)
Your tank's volume is approximately 20,736.0 cubic inches or 89.8 U.S. gallons, which is approximately 349.2 liters."

Re: Where can I find cheap tanks??
You keep using the word tank. Tanks are for fish , not snakes. Tanks are hard to control humidity in. A boa of that size needs or should have a 4x2x16". If your spending a couple few hundred then this should be a no brainer.
This is my Royals viv (not a tank). Its the size above. Costs about $225 for the viv about $100 for the heat panel and another $60 for the thermostat I use. I also have about another $40 worth of stuff inside it. Works great. Mist it once a week and spot clean. Thats it. No screwing with covering the tank top to keep in moisture or nothing.
Best setup hands down IMHO.
Its the bottom one
Now this is my 6x2x20" for my adult female/ breeder viv.
Its great. Built it myself. And is cheaper than the above viv.
The 2 boas inside are both adult.

Hope this sways you from the tank idea.

Re: Where can I find cheap tanks??
Wouldn't a 38"X24"X18" be a 45?? Thats what someone told me. And holly poop I wouldn't think a tank thats only a foot longer and half a foot wider would that much bigger. :P

Re: Where can I find cheap tanks??
Build it... you are in full control that way, and it's cheaper.
