Snakes and electronic devices

Has this been brought up B4?

Snakes, and the other reptiles, when allowed to free roam, just really seem gravitationally pulled towards electronics, computers etc.

It's a battle to keep them away.

My snake tends to head straight for my pillowcase. Lol. So I cannot say I have noticed this before. :P

Re: Snakes and electronic devices

When mine were babies, they had a tendency to want to be close to my computer. I think it was due to the warm air the fan was blowing out of it.

I used to put a regular heating pad set on low on the bed with a light blanket or towel over it (so it wouldn't be too hot) and allow mine to 'roam' the bed, with me watching, of course. They would always settle on the heating pad. As they got older, they eventually stopped making the pad a resting spot. Now they prefer to roam around whatever room I have them in (with supervision). Some like to explore every corner of the room, while a few like to find a little hide spot and stay there. When I discovered they were doing this, I started placing hides in different parts of the room (the hides are nothing more than boxes I made a opening in for them to enter).

Long story short, if I'm not technically handling (hands on) the animals when I have them out, I try to make accommodations for them so they can roam a bit, get exercise, and it still be safe for them. For the ones that like to explore, I attempt to snake proof as much as possible and keep a good eye on them in case they find something I miss lol.

Re: Snakes and electronic devices

Should not be an issue, because you should not have your snake free roaming the house. Too many things can happen to them. Either handle your snake or keep it in it's enclosure.

Re: Snakes and electronic devices

we dont let our snakes free roam as we dont have any rooms that are "snake proof". In the future am hoping for a reptile room which will be safe to allow them to roam, am planning so fixed climbing frames for them to "exercise" on as well

Re: Snakes and electronic devices

The only reason your snake would be seeking out an electronic device is for the heat it creates. Your snake is cold and needs to be put back into its viv.

Appreciate your concern. Office is climate moderated and has thermometer and humidity gauge.

When its dark, like say in the eve. I think maybe the light off the computer screen is an attractant too.

Re: Snakes and electronic devices

just keep'em supervised. they go to electronics because they are annoying, lol
also cuz it's warm, dark, dark colored, they are curious, etc.

Just everyone keep'em all surpvised! Mostly they don't like being out of their homes, but if you feel the need for snake, well you're the owner *lol*
