Hey(:

Hello all! A bit about me: I'm 17 and I love animals of all kinds <3 I don't have a snake yet, as I came here to learn more about them first. I hope nobody minds. I want to know as much as I can, and be completely prepared before bringing home my snake. So, anyways, hello!

Re: Hey(:

Hi and welcome!

Do you have any criteria for the snake you're looking for?

Re: Hey(:

Yeah I do lol. Non-venomous for one. I'd prefer it stay around 4ft fully grown, though a little over or under would be fine I'd also like one that's more on the slow side, since with the fast-moving ones, I'd be scared of losing them when handling them or taking them out to sun-bathe.

I'm leaning more towards Ball Pythons, but I'm open to any suggestions

Ball Pythons are great snakes, also familiarize yourself with Carpet Pythons.

They're more active, and semi-arboreal which means they like to climb and display themselves. They're a bit larger than Ball Pythons (though smaller than a Boa) and in my opinion more rewarding to keep.

Like Ball Pythons, they come in pretty color morphs. This is my Carpet Python:

I have a Ball Python too, they're awesome snakes, definitely slower and calmer than a Carpet, but you should handle a Carpet before choosing...

Re: Hey(:

I'll be handling all kinds before choosing I'm going to an expo this month or next just to look around and interact with the different snakes, to see which ones I like better. Going just off 'textbook info' I'm thinking BP, but I won't make a final decision until after an expo or two

Right, I forgot to mention that.

Best way to pick out a snake is an expo.

Re: Hey(:

Yeah, I don't want to buy from a petstore O.o So I'm hoping the nearest expo to me, 6 hours roundtrip, will be worth it. Otherwise it'll be a 12 hour roundtrip.

Forget to say that you're carpet python is very lovely
