Great day today
I had an awesome time at the expo in Braintree today. This was my first one so I was excited to get to see a lot of reptiles and things I've never seen before. There actually weren't as many ball python vendors as I was expecting, but most of the ones there had some really cool morphs. I really wanted to get a new bp but most of them were very expensive and I don't have the room for another snake. Saw a couple ATBs, at the end someone traded their last one to someone for a normal pacman frog! Pretty dark grey colored one, he wanted $45 for it. I would have taken it in a heart beat if I had the room and an enclosure already set up and waiting at home!
There were a few tables that had a lot of interesting invertebrates, got to play with some hissing cockroaches and millipedes. Unfortunately no vendors had any african millipedes, but I did get some very nice Desert Millipedes. I don't really know how much they go for but I got 3 for $10.
The first thing that caught my eye though was the table directly behind ours, a table with three juvenile axolotls. I had just bought a 14 gallon fish tank/kit on Friday and was planning on getting some angel fish and bamboo shrimp next week. I hadn't gotten my millipedes yet, so when I saw the little guys I knew I needed to bring one home. After talking with the guy about basic care and reading over his care sheet I grabbed the golden albino female he had. $15 for the little cutie. I'll get sand and live plants/hides for the little girl tomorrow.
So for a grand total of $25 I got three little pedes and an axolotl. Not a bad day. We also sold our cane toads (thank god) and two of our burmese pythons, including the larger half-dwarf that seemed to dislike me.
Pictures will come when I find the charger for my camera.
