Safe woods for Boas

Hey Guys,

Well my little guy is going to be here in a little over a week! eeek!!!I was looking online trying to find fun things to stick in his cage so he has some hiding spots and some fun things to climb on. After looking at a lot of high priced, flimsy looking vines and sticks on line I figured it would probably just be easier to make my own. I have 2 full wood shops at my disposal and just about every tool you could possibly imagine. So that's a no brainer. However I was wondering what are safe woods for Boas? Is there any types I should steer clear of? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Also anything I should look for or steer clear of when it comes to wood glues and adhesives? Any other building tips are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Sir Pluto

Re: Safe woods for Boas

If you get branches from the wild I would try to either freeze them or bake them just to kill off as many possible parasites/critters as possible.

Re: Safe woods for Boas

I heard somewhere that oak is a pretty safe choice.

I use branches from my yard all the time without freezing or cooking them. No issues at all. As long as you stay away from cedar and pine you are ok.
