Behold! For her tank is pretty!

Haha, finished her tank! (for now). Traded an old 10 gallon aquarium set up for this one, it was used, so I've been cleaning the bejesus out of it for the last few days (bleach, rinse, rinse, rinse, vinegar soak, rinse, rinse, vinegar soak, rinse, rinse...etc...). I found the stick, it's been sunbleached, and the plant is something from home depot...I think it's a fittonia or nephthytis (both low light house plants that don't require much but water, and i soaked the roots to make sure anything that could be harmful to her was gone). Soil is peat moss. =]

I've noticed she enjoys hanging upside down xD

Re: Behold! For her tank is pretty!

Definitely not a Fittonia ... your other idea was correct (some sort of Nephthytis). The plant looks a bit etiolated (stretched out due to weak lighting) but they can survive quite a bit of abuse or less than optimal conditions as you know.

What size is that exoterra? Been looking for a small one like that on the cheap but no luck thus far.

What type of T?

Yeah, i figured something like that. It's super stretched out, as it's from home depot. shouldn't hurt it TOO bad, but i'm sure it'll like this setup much better.

The exoterra is 8x8x12, i think. this was the only one at the store like it, and it was used, so we just did a swap.

She's an Avicularia avicularia (spell check xD), or a Pink Toe =]

Also, found one for you! (i hope this isn't against the rules)

More foliage. Those tend to be aboreal so I would use a bit more so she feels more secure in there.

Also, to get rid of those water spots, use a razor blade. It scrapes right off. Less soaking.

Thanks. If funds were not so excruciatingly tight, I'd be sorely tempted despite my paranoia with regards to receiving anything glass via mail. I have some nice large Exoterra's via CraigsList. (For about 1/3 of their usual cost. Unfortunately, never seem to see the nano tanks.)

You might consider hotgluing a cork tube or half tube to the side of the tank near the top ... they will often make use of such vertical hides.

yeah, i know that feel >.< just lost my job for no reason. I had never seen the nano's either, but they're such a good size for arboreal t's!! that's a good idea with the cork...i may have to do that!

Very nice! I need to find some bark like that, but I live in Utah, so bark is something we can't find very often. Also, did you glue the Moss (i think that's what that is), or is there another way to get it to stick?

Re: Behold! For her tank is pretty!

For cork bark tubes or slabs, try to find an orchid vendor. They tend to be cheaper sources than petstores and have a greater variety.

The spanish moss is hung over a stick and the stick is hot-glued in place.

Re: Behold! For her tank is pretty!

It's not really that thick but crickets will try to hide there sometimes just as they will under rocks and such. In the moss, I find them easier to spot.
