Re: 1st Time iguana
Welcome Jules.
I've told you what you need to know and it's not what you wanted to hear, and you definatly won't get it here. Iguana are rewarding to keep but they require a time consuming diet.

Re: 1st Time iguana
What I used to do was make up a big batch of mash, this included squash, carrots, sweet potatoes or yams, parsley, kail and the pellets, all pu through the food processor and frozen into daily batches. this I warmed for my iggy and gave her a dish of this per day.
that being said, I also gave her her fresh veggies and fruit daily as well, being a working mom at the time, I didnt have alot of time either, so I would buy the premixed salads from the grocery store (spring mix was misty`s favorite and had lots of dark green and red leafy veg in it, then would add grapes, apples, mangoes, ect... whatever was in the fridge.
If you dont have the time to do this little bit, then you dont have the time to have an iggy, feeding this way takes no time at all. A little weekend prep for a months worth of mash and 2 minutes per day preparing the food, it took me longer to clean her water dish.

Re: 1st Time iguana
Snakefoods advice is dead on. I used to do something very much like that for my iguana.

Re: 1st Time iguana
You don't have time for fresh veggies everyday? Just buy a weeks worth at a time and give the iggy what it needs for the day... Having a herbivore is about as easy as it gets feeding-wise.

Don't have time for the iggy's diet? don't get the iggy. it is your responsiblility to care for it. Fresh is always best for herbivores. you do know how big these things get, right? are you ready for that?
i think you have a lot of thinking to do about the iguana.

Re: 1st Time iguana
an iggy was like my 2nd pet ever, i say fresh everything and never iceberg lettuce, hold too much water. Romaine nd fresh fruits, veggies maybe a couple times a week. if you dont have time for that, you can always just get some plants instead of an iggy.
