Caution for Cabinet Style Doors

I caught Steve in the act of escaping.

When I made doors Lowes did not have a large enough sheet of plexiglass to use as a hanging door so I made cabinet style overlapping, about a foot and a half overlapping with locks and gorilla tape. It held in humidity really well and it seemed to hold in steve easily.

I was only worried about the bottom because I didn't think he could climb plexiglass. The bottom was secure enough to where I couldn't push it out because the plexiglass was lifted and locked into place on the bottom.

He managed to wedge his way in between the two pieces of plexiglass Luckily I recently put tape on the outside in the middle to keep all of the humidity, I wasn't losing much at all but I figured it could be better. This stopped him from getting out, Where he is is lizard proof so I would get him fast but if it happened at night and he got out I wouldn't get him til the morning.

I am getting a shower door tomorrow, there weren't any really cheap ones but $50 is easily worth the security of Steve. There weren't any at all on craigslist when I first made the cage and new ones were $200 which is why I got plexiglass in the first place.

Basically if you use any type of cabinet style doors that aren't wood or solid glass, no matter how much they overlap, then make sure it is impossible for your lizard to get between them. I taped the inside of the door so he can't get into it at all now.

Yep. That is why it is completely sealed now. No space to squeeze into.

Steve looks like he just watched spiderman and stole the idea.

Re: Caution for Cabinet Style Doors

Yeah, I thought he got out this morning and all I could think was how? I searched the entire garage because to check all inside the cage I would have to remove the door completely and I don't have the shower door yet, Only 9:30 where I am. I checked everywhere then I decided I have to check the cage s oI started taking off the door stuff and I saw him on his log in the very far corner.

It was a sense of overwhelming relief. I am taking the day off from school and stuff to get that door as soon as possible.
