Post Hi

I was told to come here and say hi from another thread. Not much of a poster but I lurk (mostly following waynes savannah duo). I had a nice post typed up and upon clicking submit I was logged out so starting off again. Maybe this time it will be less boring

Started with reptiles back as a kid chasing them around the yard and walls at night. Didn't get into keeping them until much later when I became somewhat settled in and got out of the whole party and drink daily stage and apartment living.

I am very picky about what I keep because to keep something it must genuinely interest me. I went through a fair number of species but few held my interest and I moved on from the rest quickly. Some of the more interesting ones I still keep are the salvators. I love these things and are the only monitor species I keep at this point. Was hoping to (try) breed soon but a few months back discovered half of my pair had grown certain limbs under the tail . Now Im back to raising another clutch/mate so unless I find a suitable grown mate there won't be breeding attempts in 2013 either.

Anyhow salvators are truly unique creatures that will keep you challenged and entertained. They will also test you and downright piss you off. You will discover and break your own limits, you will want to strangle them, then kiss them. You will get pooped on, whipped and then nose licked and climbed all over all in the matter of a minute. They are also rather misrepresented and accurate information on them is lacking. I've had an uphill battle figuring things on my own with them, a lot of it contradicting common norms. They are also touchy when young in terms of health and temperament (irrational if you will). If you keep these or want to, send me a bat signal. If I can help you not fall for the pits I was in Id be glad to help. Yep I regged because I saw salvs. Im like that.

As for snakes, not much of a snake person due to my other half being throughly disgusted by them and frankly, if I want to turn the basement into Indonesia I have to compromise somewhere I guess. I like ratsnakes but the only snake I keep is a false cobra (awesome!).

I like tegus, almost got a chacoan last year but Im having doubts I can live with it hybernating (see I am picky). Maybe next year unless I fill the space with a rare salvator ssp. I have a few set on that I want outside the mass imported macromaculatus. Ok enough about salvators and me.

Cheers for now
