What kind of snake is this?

Please forgive me if I am posting this in the wrong place. I am wondering if anyone can tell me what kind of snake this is from this photo? I have enlarged it the best that I can. If so, many thanks in advance, I appreciate it!

It would help if you would tell us what city/state/country you found the snake.

Black Rat snake.

A harmless colubrid.

That pose is awesome.

I just looked it up, and black Racers are also abundant in P.A.

another harmless colubrid.

But I am inclined to think it's a rat snake by how thick it's body is.

Black racers are more slender.

Re: What kind of snake is this?

Black Rat snake...that's great news, thank you very kindly. Yes, I was shocked to see it when I happened to look out my window and just had to grab my camera. I then realized that I'd better find out what kind it is before I even think about approaching the shed again. Very glad to hear that it is harmless. Thank you both very much infernalis and alessia55. I appreciate it!

Thank you BarelyBreathing, I appreciate it. I would have loved it too, rmfsnakes32, if it weren't the door frame of MY shed.
