Update on Titan and some pics/feeding:)

Ok for those who dont remember I got titan back in may...he had serious feeding issues as in no eating at all for a whole 2 months! well ever since I moved him into his own room and set up his tank better and more temperature controlled hes been pounding them down fast! so he is not just shy of 5' and about 700 grams hes tamed down alot now hes like a puppy no more defensive striking or anything and hes shedding like clcokwork...he is currenlty eating a small rat weekly but after this meal he is going to medium rats once every 10 days for now which are about 150 grams each so that weigh he gets approx. 1/3 opf his body weight every 2 weeks.....I like to stick to this feeding schedule if anyone else would like to use it here it goes....

From hatchling until the time he eats large rats = 1/3 body weight every 2 weeks

from large rats until rabbits= 1/4 every 2 weeks

from rabbits until about a year and a half old = 1/5 every 2 weeks

once they are 1.5 years i move it to 1/7 of weight every 2 weeks

finally once they reach 2 or 2.5 years depending on growth= 1/10 of their weight every 2 weeks

note this is only for males as I have never owned a female and obviously females should be fed more...but since primarly at 2 years male retics are practically full grown length wise I was told its wise to give them 10% every 2 weeks and this time to keep them healthy...any suggestions would be great...anyway I hope you like him

Re: Update on Titan and some pics/feeding:)

thats a good lookin snake there. love the pattern on the back. I own a female and idk about how different the feeding should be, but i fed her once a week until she was about a year old and then i started feeding every 2 weeks. as far as how much to feed i have always gone by the width of the snake and fed about as wide or a little wider than the width of the snake. I have never actually measured out how much the rats weighed in comparison to her weight. 2 months without eating is ok as long as the snake is not losing weight. It also could have been related to improper temps in the cage. Im glad to hear you got him eating and shedding good though!

Thanbks yes it was definately the temps. I thin in the room I had him in because it was my room and i had ac on and off The temps changed too mucha nd stressed him out. Now hes in his own room with a steady 78 ambient and loves it...ya I work with numbersd so I walways like a good numeric feeding schedule lol....almost time to search for rabbit breeders! Will his purple come out more as he grows?

yea the color does come out more with age and the colors really pop in the sunlight. i use this site for all my rabbit needs https://www.hare-today.com/index.php?cPath=21 the shipping will be steep but if ur not in an area were rabbits are readily available then this is a good alternative. and unlike other sites there is only one total shipping price instead of shipping different boxes
