New Pit Fella

Hello,

I was tooling around in the garden today and thought I found a baby rattler around. After some research online, I think it's a Sonora Gopher Snake(Pituophis catenifer affinis). I have it a temporary enclosure that's about 11" x 24" x 12". I'm here looking for guidance on keeping this snake.

Personally my view is that it is a wild animal and should be released to live out its life in the wild, if you really want to keep this type of snake then you should be able to find captive bred ones

Also picking up potentially venomous snakes when you are unsure if what they are is a recipe for disaster - if you are going to continue looking for and collecting wild snakes then you really need to learn the snakes in your area so that you dont get killed

Re: New Pit Fella

imo you would be better buying a captive bred snake mate,but.....

if you plan on keeping this one,i'd get a vet do fecial tests,to make sure the snake has'nt got parasites, worms, etc

heres a care sheet i found by googling the snakes name
