I got a hold of a rescued col. red tail boa and he or she has some pinkness on his/her belly can anyone identify what that could be. We will post a pic when i get home to our laptop.

Shed, in a couple of days the snake should be shedding it's skin. Try to not handle the snake that often, handling a snake in shed is very stressful for the snake.

Re: Pinkness on Belly

Most likely just going into shed but like shaun said, a pic would help us out.

Re: Pinkness on Belly

I don't see anything that looks like a burn from those pics. My snakes get the pink bellys before they go through a shed cycle. Thats my guess.

Ok everyone i got a hold of a vet here in southern california. He said to send him pics and we came to the same conclusion no burns. Hope he is going into shed would help get rid of some of the stuck shed.

if the snake has some stuck shed, then a soak in the bath, with you gently rubbing/peeling it with your hand should get it off

just keep an eye on the scales as you do it

cheers shaun
