Cold to The Touch??

I go to check on Hannibal today, and she is cold to the touch... Is that ok? The heatpad is between 78-86 degrees through out the day and about 80% humidity. When I checked on her about 10 min ago, she as cool to the touch and not on the heating pad, where she normally is. Is this normal?

Your body is 98.6f or right around there, Your snake will always feel cold to you. Yes that is normal and perfectly fine. You need to make sure you offer a hot side of 90-95f and a cool side of 75-80f and she will be fine.

Re: Cold to The Touch??

Ok thanks. There is a cold and Hot side, I need to turn up the hot side though. Should the light for day time be on the hot or cold side?

You should use a light that is dim and emmits no heat. Heat with heaters, light with lights. If your light cause your temps to go up more than a degree or 2 get something else. Put the light where you want it. Royals are mostly noctural so the light is for you not him.

Re: Cold to The Touch??

Your humidity is too high and your temps are too low; perfect conditions for a respiratory infection.

Re: Cold to The Touch??

Place the heat pad under where you want the HOT side to be..Plug the heat pad into a thermostat. Place the thermostat prob on top of the heat mat. Set the temp to 95f and you will have a hot spot that is correct. As far as ambient temps that depends on what type of a set up you have it in.
