This may be a stupid question but can any Colubrid mate with any other cloubrid?
be as specific as you need to be.

Re: Breeding
Not any colubrid can breed with any other colubrid.
Some are egg layers and some are live bearing (Corn Vs. Gartersnake/Watersnake)
But a cornsnake, kingsnake, bullsnake, milksnake & ratsnake can produce offspring when bred together.
But why?
I see no real need for any more hybrids, but that is my personal opinion.....

Yeah, technically that would be an intergrade, since both are sub-sp of the same species. And its been done before many times.

Re: Breeding
IMHO they would Still be hybrids if created in your snake room.......Intergrades OCCUR in the wild.
If I breed a California King to a Florida King they would produce hybrids because there is NO chance whatsoever they would ever meet in the wild.
But....some hybrids occur in the wild. Pacific Coast Gopher Snakes have been known to breed with California kings on occasion.......
And Mexican Milks have been known to breed with Gray banded Kings as well.
There are many other examples but they are very rare.
Just get another MBK and another Cali king and produce more of each....
If you want to breed a black king to your california king get a nitida or mendota hypermelanistic california king.
Again just my opinions.....

This is not a stupid question, none are - especially if you're new to reptiles, or anything for that matter. Stupid is putting two Colubrids in the same enclosure without any knowledge of whether they want/would to trade math equations. Good question.

becuase not all hybrids have been made for one
secondly even with more hybrids nothing beats the original, its more about finding that one combination that if foundin the wild or captive would make
addition to it all.
granted many mistakes have been made but through trial and error the creation of something great can be created .
those that don't fit the bill don't last unless they become popular like a bad pop song but that just makes the originals that much more desired and the cool hybrids in contention . remember you cant even make a true hybrid without at least one pure snake. if me wrong let me know but either wAY your opinion is appreciated .
