I would venture its similar to retics "aggressive/mean" reputation, based on wild caught individuals that is generally proven false with years of CBB animals.

I've got two Colombian black and white tegus. The baby is learning to tong feed and is generally accepting of interaction. My adult female is as tame as any Argentine I've ever met. It just took a bit of time and patience, and her trying to eat my face off in the beginning. I plan on raising this on up the same way I did with my Colombian black and whites.
