Ball Python humidity range

I just acquired my first ball python. I placed him in a twenty long tank with a hide log and a rock water bowl. I read the FAQ and saw what the ideal humidity range is. What I am curious is the margin of error? My other question is I haven't gotten a screen top ( just the wire mesh) I have a under tank heater and my flir tells me it's around 76-84. I also keep a clip light which beams heat on the other side of the tank. It stays around 77. But I am constantly losing humidity. Any ideas?

"The hot side, which should cover ¼ to 1/3 of the overall floor space of the enclosure, should be between 90-95 degrees. The cooler side, which should have no supplemental heat, should be 75-80 degrees."

Re: Ball Python humidity range

Thanks for the advice, and I was wondering also how well these snakes can handle fluctuations in the humidity?

That's a great site for FAQs and Info, I often use it myself.
