My first snake, Cleo!
This is my baby spotted python, Cleopatra. She is but a wee little thing, but she ate for me yesterday, so I expect her to grow and prosper! I bought her at repticon this past sunday, and I am completely in love with her!!

Re: My first snake, Cleo!
How large do spotted pythons tend to get on average?

Beautiful! Yes, I think they grow to about the size of a corn snake.

Re: My first snake, Cleo!
I was told that on average they grow about 3-4 ft but larger ones have been seen between 4 and 5 ft. And only big enough around to eat adult mice. That's why I bought her up so quickly. I love snakes but can't handle something very big. She is currently in a borrowed 20 gallon long but I really want to get a front opening terrarium. If someone could tell me what size would be just perfect for her, I'd really appreciate it. There is an Exoterra 24x12x18 for $100 but for $35 more, I could get one that is 36x18x18. Which would you go for? I don't want to have to get a new one later on, but the extra savings would be nice. Lol. I also wonder if the bigger one would stress her out being that she is so tiny. Thanks for all your kind comments.

Re: My first snake, Cleo!
Yeah. That's what I was thinking. I will just get her the bigger one. Do you think I should keep her in the smaller one I have now until she gets a bit bigger? I really don't want to stress her out any more than necessary. Oh and she HATES water. The breeder said that her last shed wasn't very good and she started looking a little pale today so I put her in a little bowl of water, which was ah shallow she couldnt even completely be submerged, and as soon as she touched the water, she FREAKED out. Started thrashing about. I thought she may hurt herself so I quickly took her out and she calmed back down. I won't ever do that again. I'll mist her but no more soaks or baths!!

Re: My first snake, Cleo!
If she has a lot of hides and ground cover you could move her. It's really just your preference.

Ok. Thank you for the advice! I really appreciate it. I just trust someone with experience so much more than a care sheet. Lol.
