Need help with King Snake Feeding

Hello, I have a King Snake that won't eat anything but Crickets. It's a small snake so we tried not feeding it for 2 months and then giving it a baby mouse both live and frozen. We've tried everything that we can think of and have talked to Petsmart about it. We've also tried Meal Worms. If we continue feeding the Snake just Crickets, will it harm it?

Thanks.

Re: Need help with King Snake Feeding

Some more info would be a great help, like temps, humidity, what type of enclosure you're keeping the King in, as well as how often you're offering the appropriate sized rodents. Also if you know, how old is the King, is it a baby or possibly a subadult?

We really want to offer you all the advice and support we can give you in order for your King to grow and thrive in your care, so whatever more you can give us the better

Also, the crickets are no where near enough to support your King, so whoever told you to feed it crickets, unfortunately knows nothing about the care a Kingsnake,or for that matter, any snake, needs and requires

It is beyond me to understand how you got a snake like a king to eat crickets.

Can we see photos of your king snake? Maybe it's a different kind of snake you have...

Re: Need help with King Snake Feeding

Pet shops will commonly tell people to feed to their snakes crickets. I have no idea why. Please don't put anymore crickets in with your snake. They can cause it a great deal of damage or death.

Re: Need help with King Snake Feeding

Honestly just curious, but how does it cause damage and death?

Crickets are extremely destructive bugs, have you seen what crickets can do to cardboard or lizards?

Ah, I see what you mean. I thought you meant eating them would do that.

No I think once eaten they probably don't pose much threat above malnutrition.
