Who is at fault here

Hello so there is a person on youtube that is housing his dragons together. I have talked to the kid before and he seemed nice so I sent him a p.m. showing (in an EXTREMELY respectful way) that he should not do that. He started saying how I do not know what I am doing and how I care horribly for my animals because my dragon has parasites and how she doesnt like to be handled because I do not handle her right and how I dont do it enough . Then he goes on to say the "pros" keep them together (I have yet to find a very respectable breeder who is not doing it for the money who houses them together that knows what they are doing). Then he makes a video about how I am a horrible keeper and should not own reptiles and how people should watch his videos and not mine and created a ton of stupid drama . He also is taking advice from a person who keeps 5 adult females in a 75 gallon and says they love each other because when he separates them they stop eating (if you dont know is due to a change in enviorment they have an extremely undeveloped portion of the brain that feels feelings). I am furious. Do you think I should be? Honestly, who is at fault?

Re: Who is at fault here

It's YouTube so I say get over it but not in a rude way

There are so many morons out there that just don't care and I think most of them have thee animals to look "cool". If I got upset over the way people house, feed or overall treat animals then I'd be upset 24/7. Lol

Re: Who is at fault here

"Who is more foolish: the fool or the fool who follows him?"

Sounds like this an idiot who is getting his advice from another idiot. Only interested in getting attention and obviously doesn't care much for his animals. Clearly quite dense, too, from his apparent refusal to receive advise from others.

It sounds like you handled it reasonably well. I mean, you sent him a PM, not bashed him in public in the comments feed of one of his videos (which he likely would have deleted anyway).

My question is how does he know your bearded has parasites and doesn't like being handled? Or is all that just crap he was making up?

Slcburm is right; the most sensible thing is just ignore the troglodyte and move on.

However, one could argue that being on youtube, he has the potential to spread his idiocy to the masses. If you want to take this route, you could simply join the bearded dragon community at large (beardeddragon.org may be start) and inform them of this upstart.

Regardless, people will see the moron for what he is sooner or later.

Re: Who is at fault here

I make videos of my reptiles. I made a video of treating for the parasites (which he contracted from my old supplier of crickets ugg!) and he knows that she does not like to be handled because he has read that from forums that I am on. My dragon has NEVER been mistreated. I have followed care recommendations from my favorite breeder to the T since I bought her as a hatchling. She did in fact have parasites but that was cleared up within 2 weeks of me finding out.

Yea thats what i think about more often than not. Yes its ok to feed a burmese python a rat in a bathtub half full of water". "yes its ok to house a 6ft burmese python in a 30 gallon aquarium" etc etc etc

Re: Who is at fault here

this is why I dont make alot of youtube videos... i watch ALOT of them, comment of a very few... you tube is nothing but trolls, and little rich kids that get advice from pet stores... sorry for negativity, but its true.. i say just let it go, you know your a good keeper, and YOU know what YOUR doing. its sad to say, but some people just cant accept advice. my self have tried to PM people helping and all i get is hate mail back... nothing you can really ... do....

link to your youtube? (i love videos)

Re: Who is at fault here

Yeah, I started an account 4 yrs ago, and haven't posted a video in nearly 2 yrs. I occasionally get an email notification stating that someone commented. Sometimes its a troll trying to start something (my last video was a kingsnake eating an African house snake - THAT riled a couple folks up!) and I beat them off with the intelligent stick. Sometimes its people simply asking genuine questions, and I get an opportunity to be informative.

I rarely, if ever, comment on other people's videos for obvious reasons.
