Re: A Kaybe Miracle.....
I have two cinnimons at work that eat rats this way, but will tackle live ASF's no problem(Never tried mice with them, we don't really like mice for royals, I mean who does?) but its odd how they prefer to eat it on their own time rather then like how they normally would eat other prey. Congrats to Kaybe!

Re: A Kaybe Miracle.....
Yay, that's great news!!
Saleen did a similar thing for me. When I got Saleen, my first snake, 8 years ago...he was the pickiest eater ever. He would only eat two live white mice, every 2 weeks. If I tried every week, he wouldn't eat them...if they had a speck of color on them, he wouldn't eat them. I had to return a lot of mice to the pet store, lol.
When my apartment air started to become horribly dry in the winter, I got nosebleeds and colds, and Saleen couldn't shed properly and got stuck eyecaps. So my fiance took him to his house and set him up in a different cage. Within a month, he was feasting on frozen/thawed medium rats. You just never know with ball pythons- tricky little buggers.

Re: A Kaybe Miracle.....
Well, well, well... Kaybe ate his second f/t rat tonight! He wouldn't strike, so I just left it with him and poof! An hour later it was gone. Looks like the move to Miami was good for him

Re: A Kaybe Miracle.....
Sometimes all it takes is changing their scenery. Also I suspect the new caging makes him feel more secure, what with three sides being opaque. Congrats! He'll be as big as Saleen in no time.

Re: A Kaybe Miracle.....
For the first time in all of Kaybe's life, he decided to strike and constrict an F/T RAT. Things just keep getting better and better... Once he eats a few more of these smaller rats, I'll start increasing the size of them.
