New With a Question

Hello, new here. Not really into snakes but I have a question. We found this snake in our backyard and we aren't sure what it is. We've been told several things but we aren't quite sure. We're in the Northern Virginia area. If anyone can let us know because we have a 3 year old who likes to play outside.

Re: New With a Question

Absolutely harmless Dekayi Brown snake.

Storeria Dekayi.

They eat garden slugs and small worms. Don't even have any teeth.

Your child is safe.
