Shed vs. shred
Just out of curiosity, has anyone keeping Bloods ever had an undamaged, completed shed left behind by their snake, or do yours routinely shred also?
Mine always manage a perfectly clean final product and there's never any old skin left on the snake, but the old skin is always totally shred to bits. I think it's just because they're so bulky and powerful that it gets destroyed as they move around and truck over it...

Re: Shed vs. shred
Well I don't have a blood but my boad seems to do something similar. She really seems to like to shed while she is in her log hide, so she does this while coiled. I think it must be quite a task. normally it comes off in two pieces but they are always just crushed agaist themselves and mangled from the motion in the log.

Re: Shed vs. shred
Haha my boa does that, too Brently! Except somehow s/he manages to keep it in one piece, and it comes out as a lump.

Re: Shed vs. shred
Both Black Betty and Schatzi shed today and they were both in one piece. Its always great to see that happen.
I dont have any Bloods but I can see where this could happen just simply because they are so heavy for their length.

Re: Shed vs. shred
My Borneo has a couple times. Both times it was rolled up like a condom. Most of the time i have the head in one piece and the body in a couple. The smaller of my male Blood gave me a perfected shed last time and left a gift in it. The bigger one always pieces. The female first two shed for me were in two nice pieces, now their just a bunch of pieces.

Ewww! I hate it when they do that! I like to unroll it carefully and examine the shed. When they leave gifts in it, I can't do that...and that's one of my favorite things to do with my animals. I even save the last sheds of each animal but the boyfriend likes to throw them away.
Back on topic: The only animal I've got that's ever shredded is my rainbow and that was only the first couple of sheds with me. Now she her sheds are in one to three pieces.
Is this normal for bloods or is it something to be concerned about if they consistently shred?

Re: Shed vs. shred
Nephry always sheds in one piece, she has skin like a ball python kinda, and she is the only blood I have that soaks herself. Ashe and Lucy shred it all over the place, but they do it underneath the cocomulch and always get it all off themselves(save for ashe and her occasional twoface thing she likes)

They do seem to soak more as young'uns, so that makes sense, but let's see if she still produces 1 piece sheds in another year or so, lol
Thanks to the Blood keepers who've replied to this P.curtus thread!
