Got a good photo of the underneath of Gary. Anyone tell if it is a boy or a girl?

Re: Boy or a girl
if that's a corn, then I'm going with male. But you'll never know for sure until you have him probed.

i know with adult male carpets because their muscles are a lot stronger than in a hatchling, they have the ability to offer a LOT more resistance when trying to be popped, this can damage their hemipines
cheers shaun

Re: Boy or a girl
^^^^ exactly the same with corns, you can pop up to yearlings, after that probing is the method as it creates absolutley no damage.^^^^^^

Re: Boy or a girl
Yes it is a corn.
No I am not confident to pop him/her.
He is 4 years old and wouldn't want to hurt him so will go with it being a male.
Thank you all for your comments.

Re: Boy or a girl
it only really matter if your wanting to breed anyways.....
but, for a corn, males have alot more room between vent and end of tail. A males tail also has a thinner more even taper to the end than a female.
So just to go by visual, you have a male there.

Re: Boy or a girl
If you're experienced in popping and confident you won't hurt the snake there's no real reason you can't pop him. I watched (and filmed) a 10+ ft retic get popped and have seen many adult BPs have it done. Its not easy but not impossible. You have to be quick about it. That said probbing is the way to go imo for new keepers and many experienced keepers use this method as well.

Re: Boy or a girl
I mentioned in a previous post about Gary not eating due to the mating season. It has now been about 2 months and he still isn't interested in food. He looks healthy enough, and is quite active - is this still ok?
